thanks!

I arrived at the SMX Convention Center at around eighty thirty in the morning to attend the 2010 Graphika Manila International Multimedia Design Conference! The convention center wasn’t opened yet, the lines were getting longer and the heat was unbearable.

I decided to stop by Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf inside the Mall of Asia (MOA) grounds and ordered brewed coffee

and sugarless dark chocolate cake while I waited for my friend.

My friend arrived and showed me her new business card. She and her partner, Rory, own Zazoo studio. They specialize in logo design, print layout, packaging and product design, web development, etc. (visit their site: www.zazoostudio.com)

The doors of the SMX convention center opened at around nine thirty in the morning. Here are some of the few merchandise they sell inside the Graphika Manila Halls.

Quirky wallets.

Sneaks from DC.

Book Organizer.

A pony memo pad holder.

and colorful watches. I didn’t ask if these were real watches.

I was looking for photos of nature to show the kids at sunday school. After hours of searching I found these:

A small lake near the entrance to Balinsasayao Nature Park.
Negros Oriental, Philippines

Katibawasan Falls in Camiguin.
Such breathtakingly beautiful photos.
I had to pause for a moment to thank God that I am living in such a blessed country.
Where else in the world can you find people wearing shirts as swimsuits?
I love my country. I love the PHILIPPPINES. :)

I was able to watch CATS last Wednesday at the CCP. Of course cameras were not allowed. The guard even thought that my box shaped kleenex package was a camera!

The CCP complex was full of Manila’s best dressed. I spotted a handful of Filipinos, but the audience were mostly Chinese, Americans and Europeans.
Sadly, I’m still having trouble SYNC-ing my phone to my computer, so all I can give are images from the CATS’ program.

My favorite CAT of the night, Rum Tum Tugger. Played by the super hot and super talented Mr. John O’Hara.
Rum Tum Tugger’s moves were patterned on how Mick Jagger (of the Rolling Stones) acts on stage. You will notice a lot of tongue sticking throughout his numbers.

Mr. O’Hara is tall, lean, muscular and he pulled off the rock star persona really well. The ladies in the audience screamed whenever he would do his number.

I never heard about T.S. Elliot’s book of practical cats, and this made it difficult for me to understand the words that the CATS sang.
Even though it was difficult to digest , the perfectly choreographed dance moves and the powerful voices of the cast left me speechless and astonished. I would love to watch this musical again in a different theater abroad.
And the rest of the photos from the program:

Lea Salonga played the part of Grizabella and she sang “Memory”. I was hoping she would also dance like the other cats, but she didn’t. Nevertheless, her voice was mesmerizing and you could understand every word in the song.
CATS the musical will run until August 22, 2010.
